August 2011 – We see the costumes hanging in the Church; we hear rehearsals taking place in the evenings; we know that Maud’s Thespians are busy rehearsing their new musical, adapted from L.M. Montgomery’s novel Emily of New Moon and its sequels.  The performances are at the Historic Leaskdale Church on the evenings of August 11th to 14th, and August 18th to 20th.  This will be good entertainment for the whole family, in an unparalleled setting, right across the road from where the original novel was written…”I want to create a new heroine now – she is already in embryo in my mind – she has been christened for years.  Her name is Emily.  She has black hair and purplish gray eyes.  I want to tell folks about her.”  Selected Journals of L.M. Montgomery Volume 2, August 24, 1920.
