The maquette of Maud in the Garden was unveiled at the Historic Leaskdale Church on the 5th of July. Wynn Walters, creator of the maquette and sculptor for the L.M.M.S.O.’s Maud in the Garden life-size bronze statue, is pictured here with Kate Macdonald-Butler, Lucy Maud Montgomery’s granddaughter. Kate spoke kindly of the L.M.M.S.O. and expressed her gratitude for their past accomplishments and also her excitement, in anticipation of the statue’s completion. Kate also agreed to be a contributing artist to our Maud in the Garden fundraising endeavour.
Our fundraising theme: three metal cat silhouette designs have been prepared to serve as canvasses for artists to pick up and create their own personal works of “cat” art. Maud was a lover of cats and what better fundraiser for our Maud in the Garden statue than an auction of artists’ works of “cat” art!
