“A Triumph in Charlottetown

Charlottetown PEI opened its heart to “Maud of Leaskdale”. The play, which covers the first fifteen years the author spent in Ontario, away from her beloved Island, was performed for one night only in the Carrefour Theatre in Charlottetown on June 27. The star of the one-woman show, Jennifer Carroll, packed the theatre and received an enthusiastic standing ovation at the end of the play.  Audience members hailed the actress’s sensitive portrayal of the complex, often tortured woman who became Canada’s most famous author.

Jennifer Carroll is continuing to perform “Maud of Leaskdale” in the very church in Leaskdale Ontario where Maud was the beloved minister’s wife from 1911 to 1926. Audiences continue to rave about the play and Jennifer’s amazing portrayal of L. M. Montgomery.

Come to Leaskdale and see the play any Thursday evening or Saturday or Sunday afternoon during July and August.”
