The Leaskdale Manse NHS and the LMMSO were honored by a visit from the Muraoka sisters, Mie and Eri, on the 31st of August. The granddaughters of Hanako Muraoka arrived after attending a ceremony in P.E.I. Canada, with Japanese Princess Hisako of Takamodo, to mark the opening of a park commemorating Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. Hanako Muraoka’s translation of “Anne of Green Gables” in 1952, “Akage no An” (Red-haired Anne) has become not only one of the most popular girls’ books in Japan but a part of Japanese culture itself.

I cannot remember the time when I was not writing, or when I did not mean to be an author image
