Saturday, August 10, a young couple from Uxbridge was married at the Historic Leaskdale Church, our usual summer venue for the play Maud of Leaskdale. <\/em>That day both Jennifer Carroll, as Maud, and the theatre-goers ventured north to the Manse, and together enjoyed the serendipitous outcome. In Jennifer’s own words: “As Maud flowed out of me through her words, I touched the walls that she touched, peeked through curtains that she peeked through, and lived and loved and lost within the four walls that she did. \u00a0The audience was beautiful and responsive, and I felt that as I wove in and out of each moment in her life, they were there, living it, too. \u00a0I knew, in the moments as they were happening, that something extraordinary was going on. \u00a0As the journal closed on the final lines of the play, emotion caught in my throat: \u00a0I had been given a gift, this happy accident, and my life as an actor and woman was transformed, if only for a moment.”<\/em><\/p>\n
